Ancient Walls 2006

The ruins of an ancient Zapotecan temple, located under the current church, was discovered a few years ago. The image pattern of the jaguar is echoed in rug patterns within the village.

The pattern is also recalls the traditional handshake of the villagers, which features interlocking the fingers of one's hands with the fingers of the person being greeted.
