Mexico

These prints are the memory of a visit to the Mexican heartland in July 2005 and again in July 2006. They only just begin to scratch the surface of a country with a long, complex history and rich traditions.

Our trips were into central Mexico, to the states of Oaxaca, Puebla and Guanajuato; to the cities and towns of San Miguel de Allende, Dolores Hidalgo and Guanajuato, Oaxaca, Puebla, Teotitlan, to Cuetzalan and Yohaulichan in the mountains., and to a few other such places.

We saw a nation of men and women who work extraordinarily hard, by hand, and with the materials that are locally available, often earning a living with great difficulty. We met proud, dignified, extremely generous people wherever we went.

These are the places and the people portrayed in our prints. We were sad to leave Mexico and are just as eager to return. We hope you enjoy these few images.
